29th Annual Hills Garlic Festival

Volunteers

An event like the Garlic Festival can only happen with an incredible volunteer effort. Most volunteers live in the community of Hills, but increasingly, volunteers from New Denver and Silverton contribute their time, knowing that the Festival benefits the entire area.

Two coordinators recruit and organize over 100 volunteers to perform a range of tasks, including selling Early Bird tickets at the Friday Market, setting up the day prior to the event, checking in vendors and assisting them in getting situated, managing traffic and parking, welcoming patrons through the gates, providing information at the Hills Recreation Society booth, selling raffle tickets and souvenirs, collecting vendor donations to the raffle baskets, working at the waste recycling centers, managing the stage, serving as Master of Ceremonies, and dismantling and cleaning the site at the end of the day.

The Board of Directors of the Hills Recreation Society, working closely with the Coordinator throughout the year, ensures the event continues to improve and meet its goal of raising funds for recreation and cultural opportunities for the residents of Hills and the surrounding area.
